Are You Soul Dominated or Spirit-Empowered by Bill Click

I'm not asking what you believe as a matter of doctrine; I'm asking about how you are actually living "today." (Heb.3:5-4:7; Mt.6:34) More than ever before, God's people must know truly know Him by the Spirit He placed within, making us forever to be His own, and be willing, able, committed and follow what He reveals. (Deut.29:29) In my notes from my 2026 message delivered last month, I made it a point to mention that "God will use these times to dig deep within the hearts of all people." To expound a bit, below is an excerpt of an upcoming message.

Your Motivation Results in Motion

'What means the most to us’ is what drives us to either protect ourselves or advance our interests in life. It is not only what occupies but actually dominates our heart and head when we need to conclude ‘what must be done’ in a situation or circumstance.

Although each of us experiences this personally, the uniqueness of each one of us determines how we handle it as individuals. For example, to the degree we are ‘head strong’ we will either override or suspend any emotional considerations, overly esteeming our 'need' for logic and firm in deciding.

On the other hand, to the degree that we throw up our hands and say to ourselves ‘the heart wants what the heart wants,’ we will instinctively yield to act based on our emotions, finding ways to justify the decision. In that vein, we must either ‘feel good about it’ or somehow convince ourselves (or others) 'this is the way to go.’

Christian Life is Not a Matter of Head or Heart

When the Lord says He gives us a "new spirit" it is done in order to transform our thoughts and feelings into unity with his own.  Therefore, a primary purpose of the Holy Spirit’s active presence in our lives is to circumvent compulsions that drive such a ‘need to lead.’ By the very power of God’s grace. the Lord’s way enables us to prioritize and honor the will and way of God as specifically sought, revealed, received and carried with a supernaturally given, living faith (which is what true Christian life actually is).

Apart from living in an activated state of that which Christ actually purchased and stands ready to release, the best we have to ‘fight the flesh’ of such forms of soul-dominated Christianity is (1) knowledge of Scripture or (2) religious awareness.

This is why so many are left to constantly battle against fearing they fail God. By not matching up, not being 'good enough'- they experience condemnation. And by not honestly desiring what God's Word mandates, they think they risk His "discipline" (religiously translated: God will punish based on rebellion).

It is a Better Covenant

We live with a covenant we neither designed, not have the 'ability' to carry out by our own efforts. And it is superior to that which preceded it. Make no mistake, however: The New Covenant by way of Jesus Christ only 'works' the way God works it! And that is by the Holy Spirit.

God gave you His Supernatural nature so that you would live from His abiding presence by His grace, not so that you would deem yourself less worthy because the 'difference' between His new nature and your old nature drive you to either 'feel' or 'think'  Him being "with you and in you" has not produced the life-change you seek.

"Christ in us, the hope of Glory" not only transcends our human-oriented understandings and feelings- it is what a truly "born again" person has actually received, having been made not only present, but absolutely available at every moment.

"Christ in us, the hope of Glory" is a supernaturally revealed, release of the impartation of having been made a "new creation" in the Spirit of God. (Col.1:27; 2 Cor.5:16-21)

There can be no argument against this way of living in Christ- either against its sufficiency or superiority - because in every instance Scripture itself bears this out as what it means to be reconciled to God through Christ.

It is along these lines that we equip and activate those belonging to God.
