Close to fifty years ago, I visited a church that was Spirit-filled. I was in dire need of deliverance at the time, and because of the powerful anointing on the praise and worship, I was overcome with the conviction of the Holy Spirit. We used to sing songs of praise that would stay with me throughout the day. I would wake up with a song in my mind. Although I may not have had many friends in the church, I was faithful to gather with the saints, eager for the fresh manna that came forth and to worship my King!
What has happened to the Church? There has been an increase in division, gossip, deception, and all manner of negativity. Many people have become burned out and have simply left. That is what is happening today. There is no fire, no excitement, no true worship. Those churches that have large congregations have a type of worship that is merely pumped up in the flesh, while others are so dead that they are content with just a small amount of worship!
Jesus! So many have become lukewarm! They have lost the passion for You and for Your will! They are not excited about gathering together to worship You. They find more life in secular music than in songs of praise and worship!
I used to worship and dance before You for at least an hour with the congregation of the saints, but now there are only three songs sung to You, and many people don’t even get into them! The fire is going out. There are no prayer meetings, but there are loads of parties for birthdays and holidays that I don’t attend.
I want to stir up the flames of revival. I want to see Your Glory and Your gifts flow. There is more talk about sickness, doctors, treatments, and medicine than hearing testimonies of God healing, laying hands on the sick, and captives being set free!
Glory to the King of Kings! You are my true joy, and I live to worship You. Lord, fan the flame of revival and strengthen the remnant army. Deliver us from apathy, complacency, and the world. Fill us to overflowing with Your power, fire, and love. Do what it takes to set the Church ablaze. Do we need the fire of persecution to wake us up? Why can’t we simply appreciate the freedom we have and the time we have to worship You freely? I am so sorry, Jesus! I cry out to You for freedom!
