The theme behind this painting is the harvest. John 4:35: "Do you not say, ‘There are still four months and then comes the harvest’? Behold, I say to you, lift up your eyes and look at the fields, for they are already white for harvest! Matthew 4:19 says, "Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.” In this painting, I’m depicting the harvest using both of these Scriptures. The children are fishing and the wheat fields are ready for harvest. In the background you can see the combines and the boat ready for the harvest, and the great catch.
Hidden
symbols are the Scripture verses on the rocks, one by
the kids fishing Matthew 4:19, and John 4:35 on the rock behind the tree on the
right hand side. There is a fishhook in the grass in front of the big Maple
Tree. In the sky, in the upper left-had side in the clouds, is the face of the
Father, a profile of the face of the Son, and a dove symbolizing the Holy Spirit
above the Father. The Father and the Son are blowing wind out of their mouths,
speaking of the wind of God about to blow on the harvest of the world.
