Two Anointings by Pam Clark

By Pam Clark
There are two anointings, and only one is God's. Some people wonder just what the anointing is. A secular way to describe it would be like the "chemistry" two people have together. They could just be friends, or they could be boyfriend and girlfriend, or an "electric" feeling that has an energy like you find among good chums or working together on a project. God's anointing and the devil's anointing also has an "energy," and you could be attracted to it or repelled by it. Depends on what is going on inside of you! Energy and gifting is multiplied.

There is a dimension beyond just the natural, or nature order of things, and most of us call that the spiritual dimension, but that is widely defined. There is an energy that can stir us or speak to us.

We also have spiritual gifts, so these things are affected by that. And most all of us want good things to happen. Sometimes we feel jaded if we have had hope deferred, but most all people like free things, or gifts, or complimentary words that build the ego. And a healthy ego is a good thing to have, but this world comes with challenges to the ego, starting when we are small! Not all homes are perfect, in fact MOST are not!  But we learn to live and minister through the Spirit of God!

We are also learning, from our day one, that we have responses to the world, and it has responses to us! Most of us have figured out that there is a spiral to things, going up, or going down. Things can get better, or you can find yourself sliding down, and OUR energy makes a difference in where we are with that!

Sometimes we crave attention because we want it or even feel we need it. And here is where the enemy - or the Lord - can come in. I think many of you are following me. People can take advantage of it.  But where the difference really matters is in the transforming effect that energy has on us - in our mind, will, emotions and life!

Good words are nice and some people even like flattery. They feel they need it. But flattery, according to the Bible, can be a demonic tool of manipulation. If it is just encouraging and helpful and even instructive words, the encouraging words can be a real blessing.

Effects of Flattery

The Bible says that the enemy has wiles and you have heard people say, "Flattery will get you everywhere." Many of us have said that as a joke, meaning that they appreciate the uplifting words. But a problem happens when people become your Source and not the Lord.  You will go off track.  But we need to know what the Word of God says:

Job 17:5 He who speaks flattery to his friends, Even the eyes of his children will fail.

Daniel 11:32 Those who do wickedly against the covenant he shall corrupt with flattery; but the people who know their God shall be strong, and carry out great exploits.

A need for flattery can take you in the wrong direction.  We don't want our eyes or vision to fail!  The Enemy, and the Lord, can be master strategists. This is why the BIBLE says that He trains our hands for war. There is a war being fought against mankind, and we need that holy flow to survive and thrive!

This is why we need the giftings of the Holy Spirit - the impartation and the TOOLS to navigate! It's a process thing, not just a one-time happening.

It is one thing when a stranger says, "Hey you did a good job (or a bad one)" and when someone you know and love or care about and respect says that. It has an effect on you.  The enemy has been working that through a lot of social media!

Now there is social camaraderie that people have, and there is the discipline of manipulating things that can have a very good or bad effect! If we discipline ourselves to good habits, we can be, and will feel better. And vice versa to the worse, as you know.

Here is where the anointing is really important and effective.  The Word of God is powerful!   There are stirrings in and of the spirit world that can have strong effects on people and you can notice it a lot even with music! It can change your mood, attitude or thinking! Or movies can, or conversations, or preaching or teaching, advertising, etc. etc.

It doesn't mean we have to be blind to the world, because then we could not minister to it!  But we have to know what works the right way. When there are a bunch of "prophecies" that flatter or say all will be well, that only good things are coming and there is no correction, it can make you feel better for the short term. But if it is not God-anointed or God-sent, it is only a manipulation and you have to set your own soul to discern that correctly.  That hope deferred can wound!

God’s Intent is Good

God DOES want good for us but we have to be in sync with Him for it to profit us the way He wants and chooses it to happen.   Isaiah 55:11 says: "So shall My word be that goeth forth out of My mouth: it shall not return unto Me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it."

God's intent is good, but some words deceive, confuse, redirect  or can take you another route completely.  That is a word that is NOT sent by the Lord!  You hear, "Hey, it's cool!  Everyone is doing it!"  But of course not "everyone" is.

Sometimes we can misunderstand, but sometimes the intent is very intentional. The spirit behind it can be evil. And this is why we can have serious problems in the Church!  There is an evil energy and a holy energy.  Some will give a likeable word and it turns people to them, and not the Lord.

If we don't know the will of God or just "think" we do, we can get seriously off track. Some things people call good are not really good and vice versa. God knows if we are following His Heart or another's. It matters to Him.  He is jealous for you. It's work, but we can be blessed if we get it right!  Learn His Word!
