God Is Calling His People to Purify Their Flesh by Kathy DeGraw

By Kathy DeGraw
I was in prayer recently as the Lord was revealing there is going to be a shaking coming, a spiritual shaking. I could see that what the Lord was showing me was specifically for Christians. I could see they were going to experience a trembling within them, a fear of the Lord coming upon them. I saw a natural correlation between people running around disgruntled. It appeared as chaos on the earth, but what the Lord was showing me is that there is chaos within their souls and spiritual lives. As I continued to pray about the unsettledness that was happening, I heard the Lord say the word "holiness."

The Lord is calling His people back to holiness. He wants us to cleanse ourselves and come back to the place we were created to abide, in His truth, love and purity. Our flesh needs to be purified, and in order to purify our flesh, we need to have a fear of the Lord upon us. "Since we have these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God" (2 Cor. 7:1).

I was recently editing my manuscript for an upcoming book, and as I was writing about deliverance from masturbation and pornography, I surveyed some men and asked them, "Besides the basic things everyone teaches to overcome the temptation, what has helped you to stay pure and heal?" One of the men responded it was having a fear of the Lord inside him. It wasn't until he deeply realized the fear of the Lord that he was able to resist the temptation and luring spirits that seduced him into perversion. We, too, need that fear of the Lord in order to come to a place of cleansing and holiness.

Holiness can manifest because the Spirit of the Lord called us to be holy, and we have the Holy Spirit on the inside of us. Therefore, when you don't feel as if you can be holy in your strength, be holy in the strength of the Lord. "But as He who has called you is holy, so be holy in all your conduct, because it is written, 'Be holy, for I am holy'" (1 Pet. 1:15-16).

Temple of God

As I'm writing this, I still hear and see the word "chaos." I see people running around and screaming, frantic of how to do this. There are people who feel like filthy rags, and cleaning up your lives seems like an insurmountable challenge, but it's not. You have your Father God, Jesus His Son and the Holy Spirit on your side. Instead of running around frantic spiritually and emotionally, you need to yield to the Spirit and not walk in the flesh (Gal. 5:16-18).

We are a temple of God; the very Spirit of God dwells within us (1 Cor. 3:16). Being a temple of God is reason alone that we should fear the Lord and walk in holiness. We should aim and strive for holiness and purity and not satisfying and acting out in the flesh. Over the past years prophetically I have seen in the spiritual realm that the world is going to continue to experience natural disasters, terrorist events and other tragedies. I keep hearing the Father speak over and over again that we have to spiritually and emotionally prepare. I repeatedly hear Him saying we need to root everything out of us so that we can be the light and love the world needs.

In order to come to a place of holiness, we need to allow the Spirit of the Lord to expose it and reveal it. We need to invite Him in to do the work within us. "Search me, O God, and know my heart; try me, and know my concerns" (Ps. 139:23).Holiness comes from allowing Him to root out and dig out everything that is not from Him. It also comes from us changing our behavior patterns, attitudes and habits. God longs for us to walk in holiness, and I believe now is the time and season. He is preparing us for something that is to come, something that is going to require peace.

If you aren't walking in holiness when worldly events happen, you will be running around in chaos, not knowing what direction to go. But when holiness comes upon you, focus will manifest, purity of heart will be established and you will have shalom peace. But even more so, when holiness manifests, you are in obedience to the Lord.
