Your Authority with the Ring of Intimacy by John Belt

Revelation 22:17 "And the Spirit and the bride say, "Come!" And let him who hears say, "Come!" And let him who thirsts come. Whoever desires, let him take the water of life freely." As believers we are married to Jesus. With that marriage He gives us the wedding ring that we need to wear -using the authority that we've been given through our oneness with Him. Our intimacy with God gives us power, awakening us to the authority that we've been given. By digging deeper in prayer, intercession and worship we discover or even rediscover a greater authority over the enemy.

Your Devotion to God Gives Opportunity

Our intimacy with God gives us power, awakening us to the authority that we've been given. By digging deeper in prayer, intercession and worship we discover or even rediscover a greater authority over the enemy.

Exodus 14:13-15 "And Moses said to the people, "Do not be afraid. Stand still, and see the salvation of the LORD, which He will accomplish for you today. For the Egyptians whom you see today, you shall see again no more forever. The LORD will fight for you, and you shall hold your peace. And the LORD said to Moses, "Why do you cry to Me? Tell the children of Israel to go forward. But lift up your rod, and stretch out your hand over the sea and divide it. And the children of Israel shall go on dry ground through the midst of the sea."

Use What You've Been Given

God calls us to use that authority. Just as Moses came to the Red Sea saying, "Stand still and see the salvation of the Lord." God responded to Moses basically saying, "Stretch our the rod I've already given to you." When he stretched out the rod the sea parted making a way for Israel to escape and turn the tables on Pharaoh drowning his armies in the sea.

We also see this with Jesus and His disciples. They were in the boat and the storm began to rage. The disciples panicked but Jesus was getting His rest, having a nap in the midst of the storm. The disciples woke Jesus, then He spoke to the storm also asking His disciples, "Where is your faith?" (Luke 8:25)

God has an expectation for His people to use what they have been given. To whom much has been given, much will be required. (Luke 12:48) This means that we must use the authority that we've been given through our relationship with God.

Have the Substance of Christ

Acts 19:13-16 Some Jews who went around driving out evil spirits tried to invoke the name of the Lord Jesus over those who were demon-possessed. They would say, "In the name of the Jesus whom Paul preaches, I command you to come out." Seven sons of Sceva, a Jewish chief priest, were doing this. One day the evil spirit answered them, "Jesus I know, and Paul I know about, but who are you?" Then the man who had the evil spirit jumped on them and overpowered them all. He gave them such a beating that they ran out of the house naked and bleeding.

We see how the deficit of knowing God in the sons of Sceeva who tried to exorcise demons. They did not know the Lord trying to cast them out. The demons replied, "Jesus I know and Paul I know – but who are you?" then those people got clobbered.

Here we see it is all about knowing Jesus. This is the substance that gives us authority. Without a living relationship with God we are an empty shell. God's plan for our lives is for us to be overflowing with His Presence, knowing who we are in Him and using the authority He has freely given to us.

Use Your Weapons

God wants you free and He wants others free. It all begins with your intimate relationship with God, then knowing who you are in Him with the authority He has given to you. As you are called to live above only and not beneath do not settle for "good" but go for the "best" that God has for your life. Take your authority in Christ with the powerful weapons that He have entrusted to you – also knowing that these weapons are powerful and able to the job done that He has set before you.

2 Corinthians 10:4 "For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds."
