Tuning to the Frequency of Heaven by John Belt

By John Belt
Psalm 46:4 "There is a river whose streams shall make glad the city of God, the holy place of the tabernacle of the Most High." Did you know that God has a frequency? We have to tune in to His frequency to hear what He is saying. One of the best ways to do this is to recognize that not everything is on His frequency. The world has it's own station. On that station you can find all that represents sin and the works of the flesh. But on God's frequency you discover all that is part of His domain – the glory of heaven. To tune into God's channel you have to get off other channels. Just about everything has a source of inspiration. That billboard you passed on the road the other day had inspiration behind it. Most everything has a voice and speaks to us – or at least tries to.

God has a Frequency

Did you know that God has a frequency? We have to tune in to His frequency to hear what He is saying. One of the best ways to do this is to recognize that not everything is on His frequency. The world has it's own station. On that station you can find all that represents sin and the works of the flesh. But on God's frequency you discover all that is part of His domain – the glory of heaven. To tune into God's channel you have to get off other channels.

Just about everything has a source of inspiration. That billboard you passed on the road the other day had inspiration behind it. Most everything has a voice and speaks to us – or at least tries to. God has a voice and wants to speak to us. He wants to be the source of our inspiration. When we allow the Holy Spirit in our lives He becomes the source for our inspiration. Don't settle for less than God's best. All music, movies and media have a source for this inspiration. There is nothing that can replace God's inspiration. There are many counterfeits out there that people fall for. Some fall for a performance with emotional goose bumps, a concert or a show of lights, effects and smoke – but there is only one Holy Spirit. Welcome the Holy Spirit to be your source of inspiration. God loves all of us but He tends to hang out with those who want to be with Him.

Psalm 16:11 "You will show me the path of life; in Your presence is fullness of joy; at Your right hand are pleasures forevermore."

Continuing in God's Presence

Have you ever experienced the presence of God? For those that have there is nothing better. The Psalmist David knew first hand just how amazing God's presence is. He said there was no place he would rather be than the presence of God – that in His presence was fullness of joy. It is one thing to experience God's presence and another to continue to live in God's presence. Some may go to church or a gathering and get a taste of God's reality, which is needed, but then not know how to experience Him on their own apart from anyone else.

Psalm 140:13 "Surely the righteous shall give thanks to Your name; the upright shall dwell in Your presence."

After an amazing time in the presence of God there is something I would call a "lingering glory," where the glory of His presence just continues to abide upon you. It is very normal to experience this after powerful worship and ministry times in the Holy Spirit. You could say most everyone found God's frequency in worship through an intimate communion with the Spirit. In this place the reality of being on God's station is apparent. Then the question becomes "how do you maintain that lingering glory or stay on that frequency where His presence stays with you?"

Finding Out what Pleases God

We are told not to grieve the Spirit. (Eph. 4:30) In other words don't jump to a different channel. Stay on God's channel. That will definitely help the cause of keeping that blessing of God's Presence in your life. As you come out of a time of being in the reality of His Presence, before you go to far a different direction, figure out the inspirational source of what is directing you to go another route. What are you watching, what are you listening to and who is talking to you. Did what you engage in just shift you from God's channel? Or did it enhance the tuning to hear God even clearer? This not about creating laws and legalisms but enhancing our sensitivity to His Spirit through what is pleasing to God.

Hebrews 13:20 "Now may the God of peace who brought up our Lord Jesus from the dead, that great Shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant, make you complete in every good work to do His will, working in you what is well pleasing in His sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen."

The goal is to live in a greater awareness and sensitivity to the Holy Spirit.  He is heaven on earth – God inside of us. We want Him to feel welcome before anything else. Through abiding on God's frequency we will see His glory in more significant ways, promises fulfilled and lives changed. Welcome the Holy Spirit to have His way, to bring His refreshing and overflow to your life. He is the well of heaven inside of us and the river of life that flows out of us – filling the earth with His glory!
