2017: A Time to Build, A Time of Fruitfulness, and A Time to Completely Annihilate the Enemy by Stephen Young

By Stephen Young
"The king asked, 'Well, how can I help you?' With a prayer to the God of heaven, I replied, 'If it please the king, and if you are pleased with me, your servant, send me to Judah to rebuild the city where my ancestors are buried.'" (Nehemiah 2:4-5, NLT) The Lord spoke "A Time to Build" part to me as I was studying Nehemiah.

A Time to Build

"The king asked, 'Well, how can I help you?' With a prayer to the God of heaven, I replied, 'If it please the king, and if you are pleased with me, your servant, send me to Judah to rebuild the city where my ancestors are buried.'" (Nehemiah 2:4-5, NLT)

The Lord spoke "A Time to Build" part to me as I was studying Nehemiah. Nehemiah is one of my favorite people in the Bible to study. I've studied that book many times and written about it several times. It seems like every time I study it; the Lord reveals something new to me.

In a nutshell, Nehemiah, felt called to go back to his hometown and help rebuild the walls that had been destroyed. He did not have to do this. Nehemiah was a cupbearer to the king and probably lived a comfortable lifestyle; yet, he was willing to give that up to do God's will. Throughout his time there, he came against opposition from the enemy with great determination, he encouraged the people to come together and fight for their families and each other, he encouraged them to have each other's back as they built the wall, he put aside his own desires to become a great leader in this project.

You are entering a season, or a time, or building. I released a word for 2016 at the beginning of last year about 2016 being a year of taking action. As you have taken action in some things in last year, 2017 is bringing a year to start building. This may require some structuring and re-structuring of yourself, your time, your resources, and your energy. When Nehemiah got word about his hometown he quickly shifted his focus and had to re-structure his life. Here are some questions I heard the Lord ask for this year. Are you willing to give up your comfort and your own agenda to step into God's will? Are you willing to see a need and jump in to help? Are you determined enough to discern the enemy and his tactics and keep building? Will you fight for each other, will you fight for your family? Will you protect your brothers and sisters and have their back so they can build their wall?

2017 is going to be a time to build that will require us to evaluate and restructure our lives to step into what the Lord has for each of us. Are you ready and are you willing?

A Time of Fruitfulness

"Don't be misled—you cannot mock the justice of God. You will always harvest what you plant. Those who live only to satisfy their own sinful nature will harvest decay and death from that sinful nature. But those who live to please the Spirit will harvest everlasting life from the Spirit. So let's not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don't give up. Therefore, whenever we have the opportunity, we should do good to everyone—especially to those in the family of faith." (Galatians 6:7-10, NLT)

I believe 2017 is going to be a year of abundant fruit. Taking action on some things in 2016 and structuring yourself for something great in the upcoming year is going to lead to an abundance of fruit in 2017.

This is what I heard the Lord say to me concerning this a few weeks ago: "The Lord says the enemy thought he had you, the enemy thought he put you in a place of hiding, the enemy thought he shut you up but the joke's on him because what he thought was going to be a year of drought and death is going to be a year of great harvest and fruitfulness."

You have been set up for the greatest blessings in 2017. "At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don't give up." Your "just the right time" is 2017. Get ready to reap the harvest for 2017 will be a time of fruitfulness.

A Time to Completely Annihilate the Enemy

In the third and final part of the word the Lord gave me for 2017, I heard Him clearly say, "It will be a time to completely annihilate the enemy." He used that word annihilate specifically. I looked up the definition of the word and here it is:

"Annihilate: to reduce to utter ruin or nonexistence; destroy utterly: to destroy the collective existence or main body of; wipe out: to annul; make void: to cancel the effect of; nullify. to defeat completely; vanquish."

2017 is going to be a year when the enemy is so defeated he doesn't know what to do. I am so tired of seeing the enemy have his way. It's time to reduce the enemy to utter ruin or nonexistence, to utterly destroy, to wipe out, make void, cancel the effect of, nullify, defeat completely, vanquish. It's time!

As you begin to understand that the key to defeating the enemy is to, first, believe that he is defeated and you have the authority, and secondly, to begin to speak to the circumstances of your life and command them to line up with the Word of God.

The enemy has had his way in this world, he has had his way in your life and it's time for him to be annihilated. Be encouraged, 2017 will be a year of great victory. A time to build, a time of fruitfulness, and a time to completely annihilate the enemy!
