The Wonder of the Name of Jesus by Pam Clark

By Pam Clark
The Name Jesus means "Salvation." If we were living in His time on earth, in His area, that is what we would have called Him: Salvation. We often name things after a meaning. It wasn't even that uncommon of a name because there were others who had the name Jesus we can read in the Bible, like Bar Jesus. That name still today is a common name also in other countries. But God was His Father in a special way and He named Him Salvation. Matthew 1:21 says to Joseph: "She [Mary] will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus [or Salvation], because he will save his people from their sins." That in itself is plenty to think about.

The word or name Christ means anointing or anointed one. For us, it comes from "christed" or "christened," which can mean dedicated, empowered or even guilded. Something was added that makes it or them special, richer and set apart!

So...Jesus Christ means Salvation Anointing! Salvation guilded and empowered by God. "The disciples were called Christians first at Antioch." Acts 11:26 There was something special on them, or in them!

Here are some words related to salvation from Dictionary.com: redemption, pardon, liberation, restoration, deliverance, emancipation, reprieve, keeping, safekeeping, exemption, lifeline, preservation, conservancy, escape, release, conservation, extrication, sustentation - so awesome!

The Great I Am

"The Great I Am," which is a Name for God also, is our Salvation!!! To study and meditate on the "I Am" meaning can really be a study in thought. Moses asked "What is Your Name? Who shall I say sent me?" and God replied, "I Am That I Am!"

In other words, He is that summation of all things. The buck stops here, so to speak. "I Am what you need Me to Be!" And people have written many great books on this subject.

Now some try to make that their authority and not His and we know it does not work that way. While God is a lot, He is Truth and not lies. He has an Order and He has a Form but it's way bigger than our little minds can even imagine. We get the lifelong privilege of getting to know Him if we approach it right.

That redemption, that Salvation, is Him IN us; the Great I AM - in us! - to OVERCOME ANYTHING that would come against us - His Salvation will stand up to it in us - and overcome! Jesus came to us to be God to us in the Form of a Man to deliver us, even from ourselves if we would partake Him. Jesus exampled it, even in resurrection, that great deliverance. NO other God can claim that!

Jesus said the Kingdom of God is within us. The power of it is His Anointing in us. That comes from God. You accept Him or reject Him.

God in you, the Christened One IN YOU - is our Hope of Glory. What a rich salvation!!! What an awesome act of Love God did. How can we neglect so great a Salvation?

What an amazing revelation He gives!!! For He is the Kingdom, the Power and the Glory forever! We just have to choose to get the riches of it and receive His Eternal Life!
